Can we start without buying scanners?
Yes. Phone cameras handle barcode scanning well at moderate volume, which makes a pilot cheap. Dedicated devices become worthwhile once scan volume or environment justifies them.
Our stock data is currently wrong. Where do we start?
With a controlled baseline count into the new system, then scanning every movement from that point. Accuracy is maintained by capturing movements, not by counting more often.
Do we need a full WMS?
Most SME warehouses need accurate quantity, location and movement history. That is a much smaller system than a full warehouse management suite, and it delivers most of the benefit.
